FWIW, some ethereal tracing revealed the error string, allowing me to google to http://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-users/2005-August.txt . It turns out that this is an error with the server-side software, and some of the subkeys.pgp.net servers -- apparently -- haven't been updated. As subkeys.pgp.net is on round-robin DNS, I manually forced the server with /etc/hosts overrides until I found one that worked. :( -- ...jsled http://asynchronous.org/ - `a=jsled; b=asynchronous.org; echo [EMAIL PROTECTED]
