Remember the meeting that we had about the relative advantages of VI and EMACS? Why not have a meeting in the near future, where we compare the relative advantages of the different Linux distributions. Each member could argue in favor of his favorate distribution and then maybe the group could vote. if Ubuntu looses, i'll change the operating system on my home computer.

I don't think that VAGUE will, could, or would ever want to settle down to one distribution.
The suggestion I was making was that of a second OSS group in Vermont. There are several MS based software groups. One of the problems we have with VAGUE is that inexperienced people have a hard time keeping up with the technical aspects of it. The prerequisites are enormous. A SECOND GROUP, the Ubuntu group, could be more base around using the software and networking computers, rather than developing software.
One of the best fronts to pursue in getting Ubuntu or any Linux distro accepted in the schools is to get LDAP and Active directory working correctly and in harmony. An organization needs to be able to allow authorized users to log into any machine and get the same login and home directory. UVM, and the Engineering and Mathematics department at UVM are very successful at this.
I also think that Ubuntu solves a lot of the problems with ease of use, and ease of installation.
