I've installed Linux on an Indigo2! It isn't that fun, trust me. The video card
isn't supported by Linux, not even in text mode. You'll have to use a serial
console. I used `screen` on an old PC running Linux. The serial port on the
Indigo2 is also Mini DIN, so you need a special cable to connect it to a PC
serial port.. I think you can buy them on eBay; I got a friend to solder
together part of a Sun TYPE4 keyboard cable and a null modem cable after I
figured out the correct pinout. I'm going to look for it tonight, and if I
still have it I'll let you borrow it. Finding a bootable CD-ROM drive that
works is difficult too. I ended up doing a netboot with some kernels from
Gentoo.
That might be more fun than I can handle right now :)
