Greets to all:

Well, for all the times I swore to revert back to slackware but held fast to
'buntu for its comprehensive driver-set and 'just works' ease of use, i now
find myself in a quandry (or maybe just uninformed and in the dark).

My 'buntu experience started initially with dapper and i let a couple of
releases
pass before attempting to upgrade, only to find out that i had to go from d->e
to get to f(eisty)
So i up'd via the net to edgy (some months back); it went smooth enough, but
just barely.
There's been plenty of posts of others' bad experiences, so I've been somewhat
reluctant to up further,
and, to get up to h(ardy) discovered that i have to go from e->f->g. What a
PITA!

Now, to add insult to injury, i discovered the other day that the entire edgy
archive has gone
missing. Kaput, vanished. I cant even do an 'apt-get update', which is advised
before doing any upgrades.
(and s/edgy/feisty/g in sources.list is NOT recommended).
Its as if fc5, or Cent4, was pulled from the RH shelves. What i find strange
in all this is that there
is no mention on the ubuntu website proper and no hits on google (where's
edgy). Yet
archive.ubuntu.com/dists/ contains dapper,feisty,gutsy,hardy - no edgy

So, a) with a hardy CD in hand, can i upgrade directly from edgy? and b) does
anyone have a hardy CD
that i can borrow? or Gutsy even?

TIA
Rion
