My assumption has been that yad is day backwards, suggesting a

Indeed, in the large, that interpretation matches my intent. My
canonical (pretentious) definition is 1/day=yad. Also, day.yad is a
mirror effect with the dot, so yes, day spelled backwards. I use it to
express the notion of the liminal space between day and night, and
more-so to encourage some reflection on the day.

I can't for the life of me figure out your sig. Is
it 'yet another day'?
I also like this interpretation. I've never thought if it that way,
but it is in line with my original intent, if a bit more cynical an
interpretation than I originally intended.
I've been hand-writing this sig for about 14 years now, it always
generates interesting comments and conversation. A property owing to
its opacity to many people, I think, and its room for interpretation.
But that's nothing new in the realm of sigs.
Thanks for asking. :)
