Hail Vaguers, full of grace: Request for Assistance: A slow spell got me into looking for a (web2.2) CMS that i could call my own; regardless of choice, making one is a commit to countless manhours in a world of myriad components, extensions, whatever.., and each's forums and references.., in the mashup|meshing of making it all work to make something interestingly customized and somewhat unique. So i decided to try my hand at Joomla-hacking (AOT: Drupal, Plone, Geeklog, etc..) to learn what i can expect from it and it's community. It should be worth pointing out the benes of OSS in that every one of my code-mods presented me an opportunity to contribute a bit back to their respective authors; feedback, corrections, enhancements; even if i dont end up sold on Joomla itself (though it is really impressive - along with its lineage)
I've just the site on the net, not quite ready for production (code-bloated,
unpacked files...)
and in need of a serious X-browser checking. The content is immaterial to
this request as my main concerns are end-user layout control (look-n-feel);
feedback on style and presentation
is most welcome since more eyes == different resolutions as well.
Since Safari is Moz based, my expectations are not too anxious for Macs (anyone
know of safari4linux?),
and i dont care but for purity-sake about opera, konq, or other minor players,
Google's browser
notwithstanding. Lord (prob) help me with IE8:).
The site is called drugwar.virtualcommons.net, which is hand-rolled and uses
only a few ajax tool-tips,
so should render pretty uniformly. It's the community area that's got a lot
happening, code-wise; and
which begs my gratitude for those brave souls willing to click on any random
section|area|function
to see if it works as expected.
If the layout is some how|where broken plz do a screenscrape for my viewing
pleasure.
On another Note (no surprise), does anyone have info to offer regarding
creating an VirtualBox XP image
that i can throw on a USBstick? All my VBimages are Linux; can XP even run
under VB (w/out vt-tech)?
Finally, thanks to all who came to the Alchemist for jolly good time!
