Hi I wish I could write everybody about Foss. I had a conversation with someone who said they knew servers inside and out. I mention Unix/Linux and I might as well been talking to a cardboard box. I know the two aren't Foss exclusively, thought I would would chime in anyway.

The question *always* comes up, "Does it come with Microsoft Office". The most recent of which was from a Vermont State House Rep, who I nearly replied back with my typical -- "No it doesn't. Blah blah illegal to blah blah. Open Office blah blah compatable for basic tasks blah blah great for school" -- except that the name sounded familiar and I discovered the fact they are a current a House Rep. I sent off an email linking Flint's efforts to convert the state to Open Office/Linux -- with some other information about Massachusettes -- and other non-cost concerns about FOSS and open document formats. Their reply was -- "Interesting about the state - I am a State Representative and hadn't heard [about Open Office/free software] so it is nice to see. I am going to pass it on to my cuacus" Is it letter writing time? Stan
