Thanks, Alfonso, this workaround does seem to prevent the "memory leak" issue 
from occuring in my module.  This will help immensely.

The module that this is for actually is GMT's "Glory III."  The updated "Pax 
Romana" module will be hitting the streets very soon (maybe this week).  
Unfortunately, the "Onward Christian Soldiers" module is on indefinite hold 
until a couple of enhancements that I requested for VASSAL can be implemented.

  I had problems with rotating pieces too. The counter seemed frozen. I
  found out the problem. It was that movement trail was before can
  rotate property. If you have movement trail proterty try to place it
  at the end of the properties and after can rotate property. It worked
  for me. What module are you working on? Pax Romana or Onward Christian
  Soldiers? ;)
