Yes, I am referring to the max heap size.

How are you launching VASSAL? If you're launching it from the VASSAL.sh
shell script, then the .jnlp file isn't relevant. However, in this shell
script, the max heap size is set to 1GB for VASSAL 3.0.13, so that might
not be relevant.

I'll make you little test app this evening (assuming that I come home
from the office before midnight) which might give us some insight into
what's happening.
