Be advised, External Modems are connecting to Serial (RS232) ports and
not Parallel ports.
Parallel ports were/are mostly used for older printers, etc.
Try using efax-gtk under Ubuntu to send a fax, if it is crucial to send
a fax from within MS Windows guest, connect serial port to real Serial
port on main machine, where modem is connected.

If you are absolutely sure that you have a modem por Parallel port, then
maybe someone else can answer that. I am thinking of USB->Parallel
converter cable, with using as USB device under guest and then
installing drivers under it.
