i'm sure i'm doing something trivially stupid but i can't seem to
install Guest Additions inside my running VM of natty narwhal (alpha).

  the VM is up and running, i've done the typical ubuntu update and
upgrade, and i've installed dkms. so far, so good.

  i've downloaded the ISO image file
VBoxGuestAdditions_4.0.0_BETA2.iso, and it's sitting in my ~/vbox
directory on the host.

  i go to the VM's "Devices" menu, then to "CD/DVD Devices" and i can
see the host CD-ROM drive, plus a couple more entries:

  * VBoxGuestAdditions_4.0.0_BETA2.iso
  * VBoxGuestAdditions.iso

where i assume the second one is from the /usr/share directory on the
host, but they're identical so it really doesn't matter which one i
select.

  i've selected the first of those two, and i can see that value in
the VirtualBox Manager window under "IDE Controller/IDE Secondary
Master (CD/DVD) ... etc etc ". so everything looks fine.

  but when i select "Devices", then "Install Guest Additions", i get a
flash of busy cursor in the VM, then nothing. thoughts? is there a
simple but essential VM setting i've overlooked? thanks.
