Since he's running off a livecd, all this rebooting stuff is moot. The
guest additions can in fact be installed and started without doing any
rebooting, as long as you modprobe all the needed modules, and start
all the needed services. Rebooting just makes all of this easier, and
I suspect it also cuts down on the number of superfluous support
tickets for the vbox team to deal with.
