a)Sorry, Moderators, I forgot to change the title -- I'll go & chastise 
myself!!

b) John..... I normally run Fedora, so I guess it is the host, then I 
start Virtualbox inn Fedora, which starts up & provides me with a list 
of virtual machines to start.  I click on XP, which starts up (I guess 
as guest), then across the top of the XP screen I have 3 titles or tabs 
"Machine", "Devices" & "Help".  The "Devices" tab lists CD/DVD, USB 
(this in turn lists all detected USB devices with blank markers next to 
them. Click next to the device you want to use & providing there is no 
conflict between Windows & Fedora, you should then have the USB device 
available in My Computer.), Network & Shared Folders.

How is your USB disc partitioned?  Mine has 2 partitions in NTFS, 2 in 
ext4.  XP only sees the NTFS partitions....
