I´m attempting to run Ubuntu LTS 12.0.1 (32-bit) under 32-bit XP SP3.
I´ve used the defaults for Linux for a VM, with a 5 GB vdi and half my
system ram (1 gig).

System is slow as molasses.. particularly disk speed.

Should I try switching the container from the sata virtual port to
ide, and see if things improve?.

Plus I was unable to install the guest addition as every time I select
the option the guest vm brings to a halt.
I have also tried mounting the guestadditions.iso as a secondary drive
under the sata port, with the same results.

It took over an hour to install (copying from the iso cd image to the
vdi file), while I remember a Debian install, on the same system, took
much less.

Thoughts? comments? TIA...
