Hi John,

On any machine with potential resource contention, you need to use 
native tools to commence your investigation.  The tools will let you 
know which processes are chewing your resources.

On Windows, I use `Process Explorer' [1] and of course `perfwin'   I 
also use the taskmanager's `Resource Monitor ...'  The nitty gritty 
though is `perfwin'
