I think it seems like traffic from your host isn't making it past
vboxnet0. I also took a look at your other message listing your
configuration, which looks fine to me. Let's take a step back. Can you
ping 192.168.1.7 from your host, and ping 192.168.1.5 from your guest?
If yes, then the problem may very well be with routing on your guest,
which I can't help with. I know little else about internet connection
sharing beyond the fact that it exists, as since I started with networking, I
always had a gnu/linux box serve as my gateway. I assume you did setup
internet connection sharing on your guest, right?
