An .iso is an image of a CD. So practically, you have downloaded 3 CDs. If you 
really want to make 1 CD from 3, you have to open, and copy contents of the 
"CDs" and pack to a new .iso. Usually there are more than one .iso-file because 
the contents is too big for one CD.

Follow the reply below, if you are not doing something very special. You can 
add feauteres later - even from the extra .iso's just by mounting them as disks.

Hi John,

Usually the extra ISO files just contain extra packages that most people 
wouldn't select during installation. If you have Internet access most Linux 
distributions have some form of network installer where those packages can be 
installed by downloading them once you have done a basic operating system 
installation.
Note, this isn't particularly relevant or specific to Virtualbox and might be 
better asked on a Debian mailing list, where you're likely to get a more 
informed, and accurate answer to your questions.
