I have had this problem for quite a while (a year or more, certainly it was present in VirtualBox 5, not sure about 4) and I still have it now I have upgraded to VirtualBox 6.0 and I have it with a new Windows 7 virtual machine that I have just installed.
So, first the details of my system, software versions etc.:- Host: xubuntu Linux 19.04 with kernel 5.0.0-35 from Ubuntu repositories VirtualBox: Version 6.0.14 r133895 (Qt5.12.2) I'm running 32-bit WinXP and Windows 7 virtual machines with few extras. I can neither resize by dragging borders nor move the virtual machine windows, all other windows on my desktops work absolutely normally and can be moved, resized, etc. I don't seem to have any other problems with the virtual machines, they work fine, I can run software, etc. I just can't move or resize them. The menu entries in the 'View' menu of the XP vm act as follows:- Full Screen - works correctly, I can switch the vm to full screen mode (and back) Seamless Mode - ? Scaled Mode - works, but currently always switches to full screen in scaled mode Adjust Window Size - does absolutely nothing at all (except see below) Auto Resize Guest Display - doesn't seem to do anything ... Virtual Screen 1 - All settings here work, so I can change window size using this In the Windows 7 vm window the 'View' menu is mostly similar except:- Seamless Mode and Auto Resize Guest Display are both greyed out Virtual Screen 1 - All Resize options are greyed out, Scaled options still work. Note:- The little dotted triangular area just inside the bottom RH corner of the vm window frame *does* resize the frame, but only the frame. It doesn't resize the actual GUI display of the vm. If the frame size has been changed like this then RightCtrl + A just moves the frame back to where it was around the GUI closing up the empty border. So, to summarize, I can't move or resize my Windows7 vm at all, I can only resize the XP one by using the View menu. Everything else on my system seems to work pretty much OK. I *used* to be able to move and resize vm windows, probably back in VirtualBox version 4.x I think. I've done web searches for this problem, and although it seems to be quite common there doesn't seem to be any obvious cure. Can anyone here suggest how to fix it? -- Chris Green _______________________________________________ VBox-users-community mailing list VBox-users-community@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/vbox-users-community _______________________________________________ Unsubscribe: mailto:vbox-users-community-requ...@lists.sourceforge.net?subject=unsubscribe
