I can notice that in virtualbox 6.1.28 the audio works when installing fedora, 
but after updating packages it stops working.

I checked that the pulseaudio works in live-cd, it is likely that pipwire 
starts working after updating the packages.

I have also some thoughts that I need to install virtualbox guest addition 
first and then update packages.

Thanks for your report! 

The current situation with regards to sound in Linux reminds me of the switch 
10+ years ago from ALSA to Pulseaudio. 

 

Now many distros are switching from Pulseaudio to Pipewire and the same story 
repeats...
