Just noodling so this might be super silly (say that four times and fast,
drink beer and try again), create a second machine:  W2K.  Now create a
second VDI and format it within the W2K machine.  Copy all your files to it
and then mount it on the Vista box.

Of course this means you need a W2K license.

Oh, I bet you could do the same with FAT32 no?  Gack, I'm not a Windows
person ...
