This kind of issue can be solved in VMware easily if you've installed the 
vmware-tools.

I am newbie to VirtualBox. I wonder if the VirtualBox Guest Additions have a 
similar function script or not?

Hello Flavio,

Yes, this is because when the guest writes to the disk and then frees that 
space, VirtualBox has no way of knowing that it has been freed, so it does not 
remove it from the file.  The only space that VirtualBox really knows is free 
on the disk is space that has never been written to (or if I recall correctly 
blocks filled with zeros).
