Hi,

I've installed Virtual-1.6.4 on a Debian Etch AMD 64 headless server running on
a Tyan Thunder with 2 Quad core Opteron 2352s. I can't get Windows XP to
install as a guest. The installation starts and copies the initial windows
files and then reboots, I get the windows xp startup graphic and then the BSOD.
BSOD doesn't mention anything specific. Just the stop message Stop: 0x0000008E
(0xc0000005,0x8050E0F8,0xF7605658,0x00000000). Happens every time. I tried
changing various settings with no avail.
Below is my latest Showvminfo.
acpi on and off
ioapic on and off
hwvirtex on and off
memory 256 512 and 1g
vram 8 16 32

I've read that 1.6 uses PIIX4 by default. In my VBox.log files I see PIIX3
references no PIIX4. I tried to change this but the idecontroller setting
mentioned in the user manual looks to be dropped in 1.6.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Mike
