Hi,

I've done that already. With the same result. I've been trying many different
options. Using sata was one, but like you said you have to install via ide
first then install the sata driver in the guest. Sorry I should've changed the
showvminfo. I found a ticket(1901) on virtualbox.org about windows host and
1.6.4. So I think I'll try the 32bit 1.6.2 I orginally tested with in the
morning. Does anyone have a debian etch 1.6.2 amd64 deb version of virtualbox.
I didn't see anyway to download previous versions on virtualbox.org

Thanks for the help,
Mike

I stand to be corrected, but I seem to recall that the xpsp2 install
media doesn't support sata out of the box, unless you load the drivers
for it right when the installer starts. It looks like you've got sata
enabled, and the ide controller disabled. I'd therefore suggest
reversing that (I.E. disable sata, and enable ide), and trying the
install process again.
