Hello Jesse,
Just a request - could you CC the mailing list too, unless there is
something you don't want made public? This is helpful, because other
people might think of things I miss :)

I installed ubuntu Desktop 9.04 32bit as guest into VirtualBox 3.0.2..
I did standard installation and changed nothing.

Linux Guest Additions installed properly.
After the VM rebooted, the log in screen and desktop screens were
corrupted.
(was weird lines on top 1/8 of screen)
I read in forum that this is know problem with 3.0.2 and setting graphic
memory > 64MB,
so I set graphics memory to 64MB and it was OK again.
Off topic, but currently you gain nothing by increasing VRAM beyond what
you need to hold the guest framebuffer.
Did some testing now.
When Appearance Preferences/Visual Effects is set to "None" everything
is OK.
When set to "Normal" or "Extra" then there is the problems stated earlier.
- Menu and Windows when closed do not fully disappear.
(see this screenshot: ***If I click the mouse, the screen is updated and
then the menu/window erase works.)

I believe this is a general problem with Compiz (see my comments on
http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/4653 - you may want to add one
yourself). I don't know if VirtualBox exacerbates the problem in any
way, and in particular I don't know why you didn't experience this with
version 2.2.
- Mouse cursor position in not correct. Mouse position is off by over 20
pixels both the x and y axises.
(seems to be a problem everywhere on the screen.)
I can't immediately think why this might be, since the cursor should be
drawn by the host, not by the guest, and Compiz shouldn't have anything
to do with it... I will think about it a bit more :)

Michael
I am not using a virtual desktop, and I have not tried other versions of
ubuntu.
Everything was 100% OK using the last older VirtualBox 2.x.x.
