actually my picture of your current situation is still not complete.
If there is no output of 'sudo dpkg --configure --pending' then it
seems that at least all packages are installed correctly. So what
is the current status? What is the output of

  dpkg -s virtualbox-3.0

? How did you get to a system hang, what do you mean by 'get the
"details"', what did you do exactly?
