If the .qmail-user file does not exist it reads .qmail-default since qmail know nothing about vpopmail.
I don't know if this would work but...
| /home/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail '' [EMAIL PROTECTED]
and then in the .qmail-someuser put in your | /usr/bin/forward [EMAIL PROTECTED]
