The funny thing about this is that it was working when I had DHCP in the public network. I can't imagine what would have changed to stop the private network addresses to work ?

This is show us the log of what is going on when >you create/load up an image on VCL And copy the log of when your Linux Image fails. I'm thinking you don't have SSH to automatically on boot and you don't have the ETH adapters to be automatic on boot? That was my issue with my Linux Images, posting up the logs would be helpful to help trouble shot the issue.
