The text is limited to 650 pixels, and then whitespace on the right. I
thought making the text have a fixed width looked better than letting it
wrap all the way across.

This is both a content and site redesign. The primary goal was to make
the web site more accessible to novice users, to remove outdated content,

Obviously for some of these I cribbed from the Wiki and various earlier

Second, I'd appreciate any general comments and fixes. I'm a bit of a CSS
positioning novice - suggestions on layout are welcome.
One worry I have is links to the user's guide. I've moved it to the
"docs14" folder (to allow for multiple versions). I'm going to set up a
redirect for all original links to send them to the new file. Hopefully
this will work.
If the site gets a general thumbs up I'll check it in to source control
and then (after a comment period) update the web site.
