Sarah: We use it all the time for all procedures
including PIVs, spinal taps, ect… I have had great success with this product.
I have found it works best if I am able to keep the infant/premie sucking
therefore I have who ever is administering it gtt it into the baby’s
mouth while the pacifier is in the mouth all thru the stick. I actually
use less and the patients do not react to the PIV placement nor the art sticks
I have done using sucrose. Moira From:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sarah Kuykendall Last night I started a 6-week-old in ER. They'd given
her sucrose which they claim calms babies (children?) and reduces
pain. She was calm, but also sick so we weren't sure which was the reason.
The MD claimed this is a fairly common thing now. Any of you using this? Thanks! Sarah Kuykendall CELEBRATING 140 YEARS of Caring for Cleveland.
