Kind of the same scenario here Nancy.  I asked for proof and although our rep is really great, he could not produce enough to satisfy me.  The Silver patch is a couple of dollars cheaper, but does it work?  Who knows.  Silver has been around forever.  It seems like it would have been done before now if it did.

I have yet to see any patient studies/trials specific to reduced infection on the silver discs and when I ask the reps get a confused look.

I just knew someone was going to ask that!
I don't know to be honest.  A quick pubmed search (which I am very new to doing) found one dermatology article:

I called Tristate and they sent me a bunch of literature ....but it says all their testing was done "in vitro".     If anyone is interested in this you can email me privately and I will forward it to you.....there are 4 emails that Tristate sent to me.
There are a number of articles out there on the silver impregnated catheters showing a decrease in CRBSI....but is it really due to just the silver in the catheter or other factors?   I read the abstract on the dermatology article....it sounded promising to me.

Is there any research to support the silver patch?

Just FYI....there is a silver impregnated patch that works the same way....but no bug has been shown to develop resistance to silver so far.  I think Tri-state makes it.  Here is a link: http://www.tshsc.com/images/literature_pdfs/SilverSite_Literature.pdf
