450 beds; large outpatient infusion areas (3); adults only.
3.8 FTEs. Approx 150+ PICCs per month.
Only PICC insertion, some data entry (very little actually).
PICC evals ~50 a month, include phone calls (eg complex cases),, cancelled
PICCs (if PICC RN had to make phone calls, etc that took time),
trouble-shooting (only after bedside RN is unable to figure it out on
his/her own), consents (only if we can't do PICC that day and we need to
call family).

Subject: # of FTE's / PICC team, need info asap
Date: Tue, 26 Sep 2006 22:07:04 -0700 (PDT)
I was asked today to post these questions.
Currently our adult side, 2.5 FTE, places about 120 -
150 picc/month.
350 - 400 beds. teaching hospital.
the question is, for teaching hospitals or facilities
about the same size and with about the same # of picc
per month, how many FTEs do you have?
for the picc RNs, what other service do you provide
beside bedside picc placements, data entry/management?
currently the adult picc team is not able to keep
track of the picc cath days. (the computer charting
system is not helpful at all to run reports of that
sort even though all the data is in there).
please provide your facility's info. thank you in advance.
