Sounds like you need a Pedi PICC Course. There are some Pedi PICC nurses
that will travel to your facility or area to teach a Pedi PICC course. I
recommend contacting Darcy Doellman from Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
She's been on their PICC team for 10 years, teaches PICC PICC courses using
US all over the country. You could also contact your local Children's
hospital and see if there is a full fledged PICC team and if they are
proficient with US. I'd ask to shadow them for a day or two after you take
a class. Not all children's hospitals have proficient PICC teams. Ask
around.

Good luck!

Subject: Pediatric picc placement for children using ultrasound
Date: Wed, 11 Oct 2006 14:39:32 -0400
Hello to all,
We are looking to start using ultrasound for PICC placement for infants and
children. We are looking for information from pediatric picc or iv teams.
What type of pediatric PICC's do you place?
How many Pediatric PICCs do you place a year?
In what department are Pediatric PICCs placed? (IR, bedside etc).
What do you use for pain, lido, emla?
Do you use sedation? What type and on what age groups?
Do you use ultrasound? What age groups? Would you be willing to share
policies?
Any input is appreciated and thanks for the assistance.
