We have placed PICCs on oncology pts with platelets as low as
1,000!. Some got FFP prior to place, some have not. PICCs are the safest central
lines to place just in case there is some heavy bleeding involved. Easier area
to control. We use surgicel at the site if there is extra
bleeding.
