Hi Jeremy,

I'm afraid I mixed things up. I used to add bezier lines to ternary phase diagrams externally (in inkskape). That's where I also added the "proper" (horizontal), corner-based labels.

Sorry for that and the best wishes for a calm and happy time between the years!

Hi Tobias

I'm not clear on what the problem is. In the last version I fixed the
position of the axis labels to be centred - they were supposed to be centred
before, but I calculated the position wrongly. I also added an option for
the label to be on the minimum or maximum of the axis. The rotation option
is still not implemented, unfortunately.

Have the label rotations changed between releases? Could you post an example
plot where the behaviour is different?

Hi Jeremy,

great plotting tool, I'm using it a lot, also for ternaries. Just
realized when opening an
old ternary plot I created w/ V1.17 or earlier (appeared properly
then), the corner labels are now rotated (same issue as E Z had some
time ago?). The only option to get rid of this w/o manual axis labels is
to set them to 'centered'. The rotation settings don't work.
Corner-based seems clearer tome, though...

Any idea what led to this change? Using the most recent version.

Thanks much,

The labels apply to the corner where the 100% value of the respective
data is located. The picture I linked in a previous mail is a good
example for that. A sample with 100% FeO would be located in the
corner labeled with FeO.

Yep, that's a workaround I currently use. It's not the best, but I'm
fine with it at the moment.

Thanks again for your program. Programs that can do those ternary
plots are quite scarce it seems. (Stumbled upon Veusz while looking
for one). Keep up the good work!

If you put them in the corners, which label applies to which edge? I
don't use these plots myself.

You can always work around this by adding manual labels to the page.

Yes, but they are still tilted and not directly over their respective
corner. I don't want to be nitpicky, though and I most certainly don't
want to bug you with it, so if it's too much of a bother for you,
simply leave it at that. It's a very minor thing after all :)

The at-minmum/at-maximum options look similar to this now.

Well, I haven't really given it that much thought. All I wanted was a
way to place the labels at the corners of the triangle. Something
like this: http://thesis.geology-guy.com/images/image062.jpg

The "at edge" option was merely something I tried while looking for a
way to do this.

Ok - I've added a quick implementation of at-minimum/at-maximum.
This also
changes the position of the centre, which wasn't quite right. Is
this any
good? It's not quite clear to me at which angle the axis label edge
be aligned to the axis edge.

I'm not sure what the 'at-edge' setting should do for the ternary
plot, however.

Ah, I see. Well, if you can make them work at some point in the
future, I'd certainly be happy. For now I'll use GIMP or something
else to place the labels where I want. Bit more effort required,
but that's okay.

Thanks for the quick reply!

first let me say thank you for an amazing program so far. I
really like its widget approach.

There's just one thing that bugs me when dealing with ternary
plots: Some of the label formatting options like "At edge" and
"Position" don't work for me*. They just do nothing when applied.
Am I missing something obvious or are those options not
implemented yet?

I hope you can shed some light on what I might be doing wrong.

Thanks! I'm afraid these options are "inherited" from the standard
label, but not implemented (yet) for the ternary widget.
