Hi VFB! Just returned from a local flyshop where I had a good talk with the owner, Peter. It seems that the price of bugger-quality saddle hackle necks is skyrocketing.
Typical price increases are a plus $10 per neck, and Hareline products, in particular, are getting hard to locate. The reason behind the increases and scarcity is the long skinny saddle hackles have become a trendy crafts item, and so that segment of the market is buying up all the necks.
