Jerry, You are going into some of the most beautiful country. We spent 2 months in that area last year and will again this year June & July. Eagle Nest Lake the trout were all in the deep water, locals say shore fishing early or late. We camped on the Cimerron River and I fished it some. Native brown and stocked rainbow. Two small (small) streams feed into it with small natives that are a challenge. On the Cimmerron, Bead head hare's and Bead head prince nymphs were good. Elk hair caddis (blonde). Cimmeron special (#16 scud, white bead head, copper wrap with Hare's ice dubbing hare's ear thorax), chirond cone (#18 scud, white bead head, black wire body peacock thorax), small black midges. The fly shop in Eagle Nest, NM is on the south side of the high way, I do not remember the name, but they have a nice shop, friendly and help full. Eagle Nest is a small town but the hambuger and pie at the cafe down the street are very good. There are several other good streams and lakes around that I never got to. enjoy New Mexico. If our plans change and we will be in the area I will contact you, we plan to be in Duck Creek, Utah in August and or Yellowstone.
enjoy, this helps Chuck Haase ----- Original Message ----- From: J Mck To: Fly Box Sent: Thursday, May 19, 2011 10:10 PM Subject: [VFB] fishing Well it looks like trout fishing in Arkansas is going to be sad this year again, to much water. But, I do have a 12 day trip planned for Eagle Nest, NM in August, any suggestion are welcome as to water, flies, or technique. Jerry McKaughan, President CADDIS Fly Fishers P.O.
