Caught one brown on a pink squirrel, the rest ( & there weren't many) were
mostly on various red midges. It was just too hot that weekend. We saw a lot
of them, including some very nice ones, but the big ones were hanging around
the bottom of the deeper water. Only saw one hatch & that was the last half
an hour before we left. There were a few places we would have liked to
fish, but as you said, we just couldn't get to them to fish. Saw a lot of
nice water, did some exploring & we know where we want to go later in the
fall or next spring.

Any success? This time of the season it's tough just getting thru the
weeds to get to the water. And stay away from the wild parsnip!

While I haven't tied any of those yet, we did use pink squirrels when we
were fishing the driftless area of southwest Wisconsin a couple of weeks
ago.
