I use Deft clear polyacrylic, water based for most of my stuff as well.
 However, there is a disclaimer on the can that says even breathing that is
bad for you.  However, I think markedly less so than toluene based
products.  I don't know how it is with the smell of head cement, but with
anesthesia agents, if you can smell it, is 200 ppm or more.  That's
considered a no-no.  Joyce
