I think I know the fish you are talking about from a TV shows called "River
Monsters", but I can't remember the name either. I know they have those
"Peacock Bass" down there, that are MONSTERS on the line they say. Those
froggies are good flies. My wife has actually caught three channel catfish on
them in the past, Chuck

        Chuck,
Some years ago when I was tying for the shops I had a request from a
guy in Italy that was going to the Amazon to fish for some big fish. I don't
recall the name of the fish. I don't know where he got my name of knew about my
Froggie. He asked me to tie him some big Froggies on hooks that he would send
me. I don't remember the size of the hooks but they were big. I made the
Froggies using 1/2" foam on top and bottom. I used Green Foam for the top and
Yellow foam for the bottom gluing the hook in between them. The Froggies were
an inch thick and about 6" long. They were sent to him. I later got an E mail
from him that they worked real well but only stood up to about two fish before
they got tore up. Somewhere I had photos saved of the Froggies, lost them in
that computer glitch I had a few years back along with a lot of other photos I
had saved.
The first Smallmouth I ever caught was caught on a sz 8 Froggie. Caught
three in a row that day on Crooked Creek.

Folks: I have always been a fan of, and had great success with,
Tony's Froggie. But I had always tied them in bluegill size, on about size 8
hooks. Till now. I JUST finished this "Bass Froggie". It's tied on a 2/0 or 3/0
wide gape bass hook (I think) and measures just over 4" long. Ain't the
prettiest froggie ever tied, but I think late in the evening, just before dark,
when the bass start feeding on top. I think they'll KILL this thing. Chuck

Now that you know what I do in the middle of the night, How bout
you???? LOL.. 'Ol Mr. Insomnia is visiting this weekend I guess..
