The Mustad 277 #32 hooks were only produced in the early eighties, and there was only one person able to make them. Once she left, that was it.
Would there have been new batches if there had been a serious enough market for them? Perhaps. Fact is, there was no such market. These hooks strike real fear in the hearts of many tiers who ever handled them - and I am not joking. The usable shank length is approx. 1.5mm. I will tell you one more thing - the Rusty Rat I tied for the project Tony mentioned has traveled with me to many shows. I tell visitors it is a very effective fly indeed.
