Nev, That’s exactly what happened. I could not believe how hard it bit- like getting my fingers slammed in a car door. It still had sub-adult needle-like teeth and they went trough my fingertips as the jaws crushed them. Fortunately I had straddled him to pick him up by the jaws, so I was able to keep him from rolling. I was pretty sure I hadn’t abused him after he bit me.
When I got back from the clinic that afternoon, he was belly-up to the sun, and no one was there to touch him since the incident. Since I had been bitten by everything that flew, walked, crawled, and slithered through the swamps (and eaten most of them), my family teased me that the gator was the one that needed the shots- not me. So I skinned him and hung the hide out to cure, and someone stole it. That happened lots of time with my skins and furs- thief city Metairie.
