you all know that I have been working at Bass Pro in the White River Fly Shop.

for the past year I have been showing people how to tie the Davy knot.

The only time it doesn’t hold well is with 5 or 6X tippet on larger hook eyes.

otherwise I use it because it is easier to tie and also wastes less tippet.

BTW. To keep this fishing related, I normally use an improved clinch knot, which is getting harder and harder for me to tie onto small hooks. Can somebody tell me of a knot that is just as strong, but less strain on the eyeballs to tie?? Thanks, Chuck

How about the Davy knot?

The only thing easier is an overhand knot - and it doesn't hold. All
you're doing with this knot is tying an overhand and then locking it.
