Joe: I agree. They are BOTH very good programs and both need our support. I
don’t know why I forgot to add the PHW to that email. The fly tying/fishing
proves to many of them to focus on things they CAN still do, not the things
they can no lobger do. That has to boost morale through the roof for some of
them I’m sure. If anybody would like to donate flies to the Project Healing
Waters, go to their site here
https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/default.aspx?tsid=93&campaignSource=DRTV&source=GUARDTV13002

then click on the “how You can help” link, then just follow the instructions to
their various programs. I know from experience that they love getting flies,
but can use other things like fly rods/reels I’m sure, as well as things like
vises and other materials. There are “regional directors” so you can find the
one you wish to help, get up with that person and they can tell you what is
needed the most in that particular part of the country.

Chuck -

I agree that our returning vets need all the support we can give them. From a
fly fishing/fly tying perspective, here in KC, MO, we have a very active
HEALING WATERS program. Our club - MO TROUT FISHERMEN ASSOC. - works with our
local VA hospital and are sponsors of the program. Another approach to helping
our warriors return to a "normal?" life.

Folks: I just saw another TV ad for the Wounded Warrior Project, and was
really moved by it. I know this don’t have anything to do with fly fishing, but
it does have something to do with US, which is to help each other among other
things. I am attaching the page you need to go to in order to donate. I am
proud to say that there are those in these groups who are and have been helping
wounded warriors for a long time now.

Anyway, starting at only $19 a month will help wounded men and women make a
smoother, less financially burdened transition back to the civilian world
without having to worry about as many things as they would otherwise. You may
not be able to help any of these ppl personally, but you can help them ALL in
some small way by just giving to this great program.

As a disabled Vet myself, I know what it’s like to have to drive up to 120
miles round trip (which I did for almost 20 yrs when I lived in FL) every cpl
moths or even more often at times just to see a VA doc. Sure, they paid us a
“mileage” and a “meal”, reimbursement, but believe me, it did NOT cover the
actual cost of the gasoline alone, much less food, wear and tear on your car,
time taken off work etc.

Thanks a LOT in advance on behalf of the Wounded Warriors you will be
helping. I know it means a LOT to them. I know there are some great hearted ppl
in this group. Chuck
