I do not know of any Gudebrod silk being waxed. When silk was used for tying 
none of it was waxed. Waxing thread came at a later time. The YLI is not waxed, 
if it were waxed it would not take varnish for rod wrapping, Same with the 
Pearsalls.
This is what I think I know. If I am wrong, I would like to know.
