Neville: Thanks a lot, Chuck From: Neville Gosling Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2015 5:48 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [VFB] Rotary Hackle Pliers??
I have a couple of the longer handled rotary hackle pliers but seldom use them. The first pair was an expensive Tiemco with a rubber/plastic grip pad on one of the jaws. This came off and was lost early on. The other pair is from Griffin (much cheaper than Tiemco) and same style with a rubber pad which after the problem with the Tiemco, I glued in place and is still there. I only use them for very small flies. Neville (Nev) Gosling The older I get, the better I was! On Mar 12, 2015, at 3:24 PM, Chuck Alexander <[email protected]> wrote: Thanks Tony and Neville. So they do NOT get in the way of tying off the hackle then??? How long are the handles on them?? Stockard offered a “standard” shaft length and an extended size. I chose the standard, but should I order the long handled ones instead?? I have NOT placed my order yet. Just piling my “shopping cart” full. Or rather till my wife;s budget she gave me runs out LOL.. Do they work good?? Are they better than regular hackle pliers. Only problem I foresee is that after you wrap the hackle, those rotary pliers will hang down a lot farther than normal hackle pliers, making getting your lock in thread wraps behind the hackle would be harder to do than using reg. hackle pliers. Am I missing something there?? Thanks for any pros or cons. They are only $3.45 from Stockard, which is the place I’m ordering from, but if I’ll never use them, that’s $3.45 I could use on something I will use. Chuck No virus found in this message.
