I guess it is all a matter of taste. I had a Norvise and hated it from the get go. Gave it away and never regretted it. The only part of that is that I have since learned that you must wrap the thread around the leg of the bobbin two times for it to work properly. I have been thinking of getting an automatic bobbin, either a Nor-bobbin or the Eicht?
I sprang for a C&F bobbin that cost a few dollars but use it more than any of my other bobbins. It just feels so solid and quality made, that I don't regret ever buying it. Some mistakes are just too much fun to make only once. > On Apr 30, 2016, at 1:26 PM, Don Ordes <[email protected]> wrote: > > Wayne, > If you tie a lot of flies ‘in the round’, meaning that most of the tie is > via wrapping materials around the shank, then the Norvise is great to have. > If you tie flies that don’t need rotating while tying, the feature will not > mean much. > Most of my flies are tied as stacked materials, so I rarely have to > rotate the hook.
