Thanks, Neville and Tony, for the complements! It isn't the most realistic
or fanciest fly I've tied, by a long shot, but it does show some progress
being made. I hope to get back to tying realistic flies in the weeks
ahead. Coupled with traditional Scottish Lough flies, they're my
"specialty" of sorts. Or at least they're what I used to be able to tie
fairly well... Not sure what I want to tie in that regard to get back in
that realm - may start simple and do some Oliver Edwards flies. We'll see
how it goes. For now, I'm toying around with the new mayfly nymph bodies
and legs from Risen Fly company - or rather, I have the materials as of a
few days ago, and plan to work with them today. They look quite buggy, and
coupled with Flymen Fishing Company's extended shanks, I'm going to try my
hand at some jointed extended body mayflies. Always challenging myself
with these eyes of mine, I suppose... it's the only way I'll get back to
where I once was, I figure. Like learning to ride a bike all over again,
but it'll happen, I'm confident of it.

On a different note, I was all excited and ready to go to the international
fly tying symposium this last weekend, and then my wife realized it was
2.5hrs drive time each way instead of the roughly 2hrs to Somersett NJ
(sp?), and for whatever reason that extra half hour each way was a thorn in
her side for driving me out there (I'm not allowed to drive with the
epilepsy), so she got cold feet so to speak and cancelled the trek out
there for the day. The Edison show is a maybe for January - if I do go,
we'll get a hotel room for the weekend - but the lancaster show is a
certainty. At least I can get in some show or another this season :)
Sorry if I missed seeing anyone at the tying symposium last weekend.

I hope everyone had wonderful holidays / Thanksgivings,
Tight wraps,
-Pete
