TONY, BYARD, OTHERS.....
Yeah, I'm not really all that impressed with Fly Tyer lately. I
guess they figure since they are the only Fly Tying magazine,
they can do as they please. I wish Dick Surette still was
editor, he ran a great Magazine. Fly Tyer's only competitor was
FLY TYING magazine, put out by Frank Amato Publications. F.A.P.
combined Fly Tying with their Fly Fishing Magazine to produce
Fly
Fishing & TYing Quarterly...which is pretty good most of the
time
but I think the overall result suffers from trying to get too
much in one Publication. Apparently Flyfishing wasn't selling
all that good & the Kind folks at F.A.P. thought that by combing
Fly Fishing with it's "doing a whole lot better-market wise"
sister Magazine,Fly Tying, they'd fix the problem. I'm sure they
have "improved" things from their end, But I miss Fly Tying
Magazine very much. There's been some articles in Fly Tyer that
make me wonder what the Heck the editor was thinking when he
decided to run the particular piece. seemed to me that the
author
hasn't been tying long & was rather clueless as to their subject
matter. My $0.02 worth of oppinion.
