MURF,
If it's a real matter of your staying alive, by all means eat the fish. I'm referring to the person, who has a well stocked pantry & frig at home who thinks the ONLY REASON to go fishing is to get food. THAT is an ANCIENT, OUTDATED BELIEF!!! If that is THEIR ONLY VIEW, they are missing about 90% of what the entire act of fishing is all about. as to survival, I"ve been in Boy Scouts, Been on 24 day long Backpack trips, taking afew Sierra Club & other groups' Survival courses & I have a much read copy of Bradford Angier's "HOW TO STAY ALIVE IN THE WOODS"... For Survival eating a fish is perfectly exceptable practice with me... to kill a fish just to say one went fishing ISN'T.....

But in no way should we teach our youth (& future leaders) that fishing is just about getting one's dinner. that is an ancient, worn out & overly abused belief that has no place in today's world
Deam;
As a former Scout, I disagree with the ancient comment. It may come done to survival of the knowledgeable in the future. Heck, India and Pakistan are talking nuclear exchange. I still see folks within a short trip from my DC digs trying to survive on the land because of economic hardships. Suggest you learn about finding clean water, edible wild plants and what is left of the fishery unless you already know. I can't wait until spring brings my ramps, dandelion, truffles and even thistle root in the summer. Mosquitoes bugging you? Eat some plantain (we call the lawn weed broadleaf) seeds this summer.
still tyin...
