I got a new 2 wt and a float tube this X-mas.
Hopefully I am going to do a lot of bluegill fishing
this summer as there is a great place close to the
house. They are not the most picky fish, but what are
some of your own patterns that work well for these
little fighters.

Thanks,
Keith

KEITH,

Ahhhh...the little bluegills are not that picky, yes. HOWEVER if you want to catch those Big Slab side "Bull Gills" you will discover one of the most picky Fish you have ever fished for.... that being said; try the following patterns.... Wooly Buggers in Olive,Black & Brown, #8-12. Soft Hackles in Olive,Yellow & Hares ear #12-18. Marabou Streamers in White, Yellow, Olive, Black, orange #8-14. ANy Rubber legged Nymph or Foam Spider fly...in Yellow, Black, White, Green, Brown, Red, Olive...sizes#8-14. there's a type of Bluegill fly called "Bream Killers"...which basically means any subsurface fly that incorperates rubber hackle legs in the tye.... patterns such as GILL-GETTER, YUK BUG, BULLY'S BLUEGILL SPIDER, HUM BUG & my own SPIDER & I are all in the catagory of Bream Killers....great patterns to use. you should have no problem locating the dressing for these Bream Killers on the internet.... just surf. if you cannot locate the dressings, Email me directly & I'll forward them to you...Have Fun!!!!
